Right now, there’s a big gap in this country... a gap between the support a disabled person is eligible for, and the support they actually need.
You and I both know this gap has been around forever. But in recent months, it’s gotten a lot worse.
Massive funding cuts have resulted in thousands of disabled Kiwis missing out on crucial services that can make a real and tangible difference in their lives.
This is devastating, that we must act.
Your generous gift will make a huge difference for someone like Matt.
You see, about 20 years ago, Matt suffered a serious accident that left him a quadriplegic – and his whole world turned upside down.
Matt told us: "I am completely reliant on other people to do everything I was used to doing for myself. It’s incredibly hard, in every way you can think of."
Thankfully, Matt has a loving wife and a strong support network. The government has also stepped up to offer some much-needed support.
But there’s still a big gap between the services Matt needs, and the ones he’s eligible for... such as transport.
If Matt needs to go to a medical appointment, a social engagement, or even grocery shopping – he has to rely on friends and family to take him there and back.
And if they’re busy or unavailable, Matt’s stuck... and he’s not the only Kiwi who is facing challenges like these.
Thankfully, Matt was put in touch with CCS Disability Action. After we listened carefully to what Matt’s needs and challenges were...
...and because of caring supporters we were able to arrange two support workers to take Matt wherever he needs (and wants) to go, three times a week.
Supporters helped us bridge the gap, and with this simple and life-changing service, Matt has regained some of the freedom and independence he’d lost due to his accident.
Matt is deeply grateful, and told us: "I haven’t been able to do my own shopping since my accident. It’s great. To have the freedom to be able to go where I want, when I want; it’s awesome."
This is what you make possible when you give to CCS Disability Action.
If you’re able, will you please give generously as you can today to bridge the gap for another disabled Kiwi like Matt? Thank you!

Stories we have recently shared with supporters
Brent's story
Meet Brent, a legally blind cartoonist and teacher who connects with people through his art.
With limited public transport in Oamaru, our team assists Brent in getting to his work and doing everyday tasks.

Chrissy & Mandy's story
Chrissy and Mandy have lived in Manawatū for much of their lives, sometimes with family and, for Mandy, sometimes in residential care. Now, with the support of our team, they live together in Feilding.
Mandy previously lived in residential care, an environment which can impact on day-to-day choice and freedoms for some people. To enable her to live independently, CCS Disability Action organised a team of support workers who live with the pair 24/7. Read their story.
