CCS Disability Action Wellington moves to new accessible Petone base

CCS Disability Action’s Wellington branch is moving from its current Raroa Road office in Lower Hutt to a new, more accessible home in Petone, close to public transport and popular local amenities.

The branch, which supports disabled people and their whānau across the wider Wellington region, has been operating from temporary premises due to earthquake strengthening requirements at its previous site.

The CCS Disability Action office closed on Monday 21 April and will reopen to the public at the new site at Unit 8/5 Bouverie Street, Petone 5012, on Tuesday 28 April.

“Moving has taken a big effort for our team, but we’re really excited about the new location and looking forward to settling into our new Petone office,” says Wellington branch Service Manager Tilomai Solia. “We expect that this will become a stable, long-term home for CCS Disability Action Wellington.”

The new site is close to Mitre 10 MEGA Petone and is designed to be easy to get to and around, with a mobility parking space nearby and good bus and train options. “Being close to public transport makes a real difference for disabled people and their whānau,” says Tilomai. “It should be simpler for people to drop in, whether they are coming to talk with us about support or bringing in paperwork like Mobility Parking applications.”

Ava Station on the Hutt Valley Line is the nearest train station, approximately a 7–9 minute walk (around 400–600 metres) from the new office, while Petone Station is also accessible a little further along the line. Nearby bus stops on Cuba Street and Hutt Road connect Petone with Wellington and the wider Hutt Valley, including Metlink routes such as the 83 and 110.

“We’re excited to welcome disabled people and whānau into this new space,” Tilomai says. “We know that dropping in with questions or to connect is important for many people, so we’re committed to making that as straightforward and accessible as possible.”
