One in six people in Aotearoa New Zealand is disabled, and every disabled voter has the right to the information they need to have their say at the General Election on Saturday 7 November.
The 2026 Disability Election Scorecard brings together political parties’ responses on issues that are important to disabled people. It presents this information in one place, in accessible formats, supporting disabled people to make an informed decision on who to vote for in this year’s General Election.
The scorecard was co-ordinated by Disabled Persons Assembly NZ (DPA), Your Way | Kia Roha and CCS Disability Action. Each party invited to take part was asked the same questions.
Disability related questions were posed on topics that are important to disabled people in the run up to the 2026 General Election.
The results are collated as a scorecard showing each party’s Yes, No or Undecided response to each question, with additional comments below.
The scorecard is non-partisan. It does not rank parties, endorse any party or candidate, or recommend how to vote. Each party’s responses are presented as they were provided, so disabled voters can make up their own minds.
The scorecard will be available here.
Information about voting, including accessible voting options, is available from the Electoral Commission at vote.nz or by calling 0800 36 76 56.
