Rano Community Trust grant brings warmth to our Northland office

CCS Disability Action is delighted to acknowledge a grant of $5,400 from Rano Community Trust, which has funded two new heat pumps at our Northland office.

Our Northland team works from a large, older building with high ceilings. Temperatures inside can swing a long way across the year, from very warm in summer to very cold in winter. A comfortable, safe workplace matters for the kaimahi who support disabled people and whānau across Te Tai Tokerau, and for the people who visit us.

The grant has funded a large heat pump for our kitchen, replacing one that stopped working several years ago, and a smaller unit for an office space that had never been heated before. Both are now installed and in use. With our Northland team growing, including a new Early Intervention team, we have needed to open up rooms we previously didn't use. The new heat pumps mean those spaces are now suitable to work in all year round.

"It is really important that our place of work is comfortable and safe, and these two heat pumps have made a genuine difference," says Amanda Vun, Service Manager, CCS Disability Action Northern Region. "We're very grateful to Rano Community Trust for helping us create warm, professional spaces for our growing team and the whānau we work alongside, who often pop in to see us."

Rano Community Trust makes grants for charitable and non-commercial purposes that benefit the community, with a focus on not-for-profit organisations that support community education and cohesion. That commitment to practical, community-level support aligns closely with our mission.

Practical support like this keeps our Northland service running well for disabled people and their whānau, from early intervention with tamariki through to advocacy and support across people’s lives.
