Pelorus Trust grant helps create welcoming outdoor space in North Taranaki

CCS Disability Action’s North Taranaki branch is proud to acknowledge a generous grant from the Pelorus Trust, which has funded the installation of a shade sail at New Plymouth-based office. This upgrade has made our outdoor area more comfortable and accessible for the many disabled people, whānau, and community partners who visit us throughout the year.

Our branch is a busy hub of activity, offering direct support, advocacy, and connection for disabled people across the region. We work closely with other agencies and community groups, and our space is often used for meetings, gatherings, and informal kōrero. The new shade sail provides shelter from the elements, making it easier for people to relax and engage in a safe and welcoming environment.

"This grant has made a real difference to our space and the people who use it," says Alison Goldby, Branch Manager for CCS Disability Action North Taranaki. "We want our branch to be a place where everyone feels welcome – whether that's our awesome team, a person coming in to meet about their support or to connect with others. The shade sail helps us create that inclusive atmosphere, and we’re incredibly grateful to the Pelorus Trust for their support."

The Pelorus Trust is committed to funding projects that benefit communities across Aotearoa, with a focus on charitable, educational, and recreational initiatives. Their support aligns closely with CCS Disability Action’s mission to remove disabling barriers and ensure disabled people can participate fully in society.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Pelorus Trust for investing in our local mahi and helping us build a more inclusive and accessible community.
