Frequently asked questions

What is this event about?

This is a chance for Pasifika disabled people and their families to speak up about what matters most to them. CCS Disability Action wants to listen and learn so we can improve how we support our Pasifika communities. Your ideas will help shape a national strategy that reflects your values, needs, and aspirations.

Will my voice make a difference?

Yes. We are committed to listening and acting on what you share. The feedback from this fono will directly inform our National Pasifika Strategy and future services.

Is this just for people who are supported by CCS Disability Action?

No. Everyone is welcome – whether you are supported by us or not. If you’re a Pasifika disabled person or have a family member who is disabled, we would love to see you there?

I work with Pasifika people, is this event for me?

We want to hear the voice of disabled Pasifika people. This event is not targeted at people who are employed in disability support. If you would like to support these fono, please share the information about the event with the people you support. Alternatively, please feel free to get in touch with us directly if you’d like to support someone to attend.

Do I need to speak in public?

Not at all. You can choose how you participate – whether that’s speaking in a group, chatting one-on-one, writing down your thoughts, or just listening. We’ll create a safe, respectful space where everyone feels comfortable.

Will there be support for my access needs?

Yes. We want to make this event as accessible as possible. If you need support to attend, please let us know when you register.

Can my Support Worker attend?

Yes. Support workers can arrive at any time and are free to come and go, depending on your needs.

Can I bring my family or support person?

Absolutely. We encourage you to bring whānau, friends, or support people. Children are very welcome too. This is a community event, and we know that many disabled people feel more comfortable attending with someone they trust.

Will there be food?

Yes. Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, including lunch. If you have dietary needs, please let us know when registering.

Is there a cost to attend?

No. The event is free.

What if I can’t stay the whole time?

That’s okay. You’re welcome to come for part of the day. Just let us know when you register so we can plan accordingly.

Why should I come?

Because your voice matters. This is an opportunity to influence how a national disability organisation supports Pasifika people. Your experiences, ideas, and hopes can help create real change.
