Help shape accessible public transport in Greater Wellington

Do you use public transport in Greater Wellington – or would you like to, but find it difficult?

CCS Disability Action and transport engineer Bridget Doran are working with Metlink to improve accessibility training for bus drivers, train staff, and Total Mobility drivers. To make sure this training reflects real experiences, we’re inviting disabled people and others who face challenges using transport to complete a short survey.

Your feedback will help us design training that’s practical, respectful, and inclusive – so that public transport works better for everyone.

This survey is for:

  • People who use buses, trains, ferries, or Te Hunga Whaikaha Total Mobility taxis in Greater Wellington

  • People who want to use these services but currently don’t, due to access barriers

It’s not about parking (except for Total Mobility taxi parking), or your journey to the bus stop or station – it’s focused on your experience on board.

We know that accessibility looks different for everyone. That’s why we’ve made the survey available in multiple formats:

  • Paper surveys (including large print)

  • Phone-in option

  • Translations in other languages

To request an alternative format, email: info@BridgetDoran.nz

This research is part of a two-year project to co-design and deliver accessibility training for public transport operators across the region. Your voice will help shape how drivers and staff understand and respond to access needs.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey – or share it with someone who might have valuable insights: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2X262R3

Together, we can make public transport more inclusive, one journey at a time.
