Hours: Fixed term (six months), 40 hours per week

We are seeking a like-minded person who is committed to making a difference in the lives of disabled children, individuals and their families/whānau in the Napier area. Key functions of this role are offering support, information and advocacy to people, and coordinating support workers to provide our services in the community and people’s homes. A key focus is supporting people through times of change in their lives and this includes liaising with schools, agencies and community networks.

This 40 hour/week fixed term position is based from our Napier Branch. This role offers you an exciting opportunity to use and develop your skills by providing quality support to the team. Your responsibility will be to ensure that our work undertaken with disabled people, their family/whānau, and our related community partners, is of high quality.

About you

We are looking for people who:

  • Have proven advocacy skills

  • Experience working with families/whānau accessing services

  • An ability to form positive relationships and networks

  • Great communication skills, both oral and written including report writing

  • Experience in current disability issues

  • An ability to coordinate others

  • An ability to work across a diverse community

  • Sound organisational and computer ability incl. MS Office

  • A creative streak and be able to think laterally

  • Previous experience and/or tertiary training

  • A social science qualification (is desirable)
