Job location: Negotiable throughout New Zealand

Hours: Full-time, permanent, 40 hours per week (flexible and part-time working arrangements available)

CCS Disability Action is launching a strategic legacy gifting programme and major gifts fundraising. We seek an experienced, relationship-focused fundraiser to identify, cultivate, and steward significant donor relationships – both individuals capable of major gifts and legacy donors – to realise their philanthropic ambitions and strengthen CCS Disability Action’s financial sustainability. This is a unique opportunity to build meaningful, authentic relationships with supporters who share our vision for an inclusive Aotearoa.

Job specific information

You'll work independently across Aotearoa building a portfolio of high-value donors. Your days will blend relationship-building (one-on-one meetings with prospects, listening to their values and aspirations), strategic planning (researching prospects, segmenting donors, managing cultivation plans), and impact storytelling (sharing how bequests and major gifts transform disabled people's lives). You'll also co-deliver 2–3 donor education events annually and maintain comprehensive data on all relationships in our CRM system.

As a Fundraising Advisor – Major and Legacy Gifting, you will:

  • Identify, research, and qualify a portfolio of 80–120 major gift and legacy prospects, using wealth screening and strategic analysis.

  • Build authentic, relationship-based connections with donors through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and thoughtful communication.

  • Solicit and close major gifts ($5,000+) and confirmed bequest intentions, with sensitivity and professionalism.

  • Manage moves management plans for each prospect, tracking cultivation progress and next steps in our CRM system.

  • Steward all secured donors through regular impact reporting, recognition, and ongoing relationship maintenance.

  • Co-deliver 2–3 donor education workshops annually on major giving and estate planning.

  • Provide quarterly reporting to leadership on pipeline value, confirmed intentions, and programme outcomes.

With the support of the Fundraising Manager and wider team, you'll deliver high-quality, values-aligned fundraising that:

  • Realises each donor's philanthropic ambitions while strengthening CCS Disability Action’s long-term financial resilience.

  • Builds sustainable bequest and major gift revenue streams that future-proof our services to disabled people.

  • Ensures all donor communications and engagement reflect Te Aronui and CCS Disability Action’s commitment to dignity, accessibility, and disabled people's leadership.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you

We are looking for people who:

  • Have 3–5 years' proven fundraising experience, with a track record of securing major gifts ($10,000+) and stewarding planned giving/bequest relationships.

  • Have demonstrated knowledge of estate planning or gifts in wills programmes.

  • Are relationship builders at heart – you listen more than you pitch, understand donor motivations, and genuinely believe in matching donor values with organisational mission.

  • Are comfortable working independently across multiple regions while maintaining strong collaboration with leadership and teams.

  • Have excellent CRM and data management skills; you're meticulous about record-keeping and strategic analysis.

  • Demonstrate genuine commitment to disability rights, accessibility, and neurodivergence-inclusive practice.

  • Are adaptable and resilient, and willing to continuously improve and learn.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the disability, health, or not-for-profit sector.

  • Te Ao Māori framework knowledge.

  • Understanding of the social model of disability and lived experience with disability.
