The Community Support Coordinator, a member of Children and Families/Whānau Team of CCS Disability Action Auckland Branch, has the responsibility to work in partnership with individuals and their families to develop and implement a range of flexible community options which enable them to remain strong and connected to their family and community. All services are developed and delivered in such a way that they reflect our commitment to supported lifestyles and community development and are in line with the organisations’ strategic priorities document.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resourceful applicant to join our diverse team in the position of a Community Support Coordinator. This space offers a range of opportunities to work across a diverse network of agencies and state providers, such as local managers at Ministry of Education, Health, Whaikaha, WINZ, Kainga Ora and Oranga Tamariki to name a few.

As a Community Support Coordinator, you will:

  • Have good community networks.

  • Have experience in the social sector.

  • Understanding of the disability sector and ability to relate to disabled people in a positive affirming manner.

  • You have an understanding of and are committed to the rights of disabled people.

With the support of our organisation, you’ll:

  • Work as part of a team of Community Support Coordinators and Children, Family/Whānau Service Manager.

  • Work in partnership with whānau/families to develop and implement a range of flexible community options which enable them to remain strong and connected to their family and community.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you

Ideally you will:

  • Have 2-3 years minimum experience of working together effectively with children, young adults and whānau to achieve agreed outcomes in a coordination related capacity. This role is not for someone looking to be a support worker.

  • Have excellent skills in developing and maintaining trusting and accountable relationships with staff.

  • Have an interest and experience in care and protection work.
