Hours: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)

The role sits within the Children and Families team of the Waikato Branch. You will work in partnership with children, youth and their families to develop deliver and/or coordinate a range of person directed services that aim to empower and enable the individual to achieve their personal lifestyle goals.

Job specific information

As a Coordinator you will support across all services with a key focus on service delivery for Supported Lifestyles Under 19, Intensive Wrap Around, Youth Transition and Foster Care services to disabled people, their family/whānau and caregiver(s) to a high standard and in accordance with the CCS Disability Action’s values and mandates.

As a Coordinator, you will:

  • Advocate to funders/NASCs for services and resources which meets the needs of disabled people, their family/whānau and caregiver(s).

  • Provide prompt and efficient response to service enquiries and provide relevant information and support to people we support.

  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to service delivery

  • Work in a way which promotes the inclusion and involvement of disabled people within their community and the organisation.

  • Develop good partnerships with other agencies and community organisations and share relevant information with people we support and the others.

With the support of Senior Service Coordinator, Children and Families team, in our organisation, you’ll:

Coordinate high quality services that are creative, flexible, and responsive to the needs of disabled people and their families/whānau. Services focus on improving/maintaining inclusion of disabled people within their families/whānau and the wider community.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you

We are looking for people who have:

  • Proven advocacy skills.

  • Experience working with families/whānau accessing services.

  • An ability to form positive relationships and networks.

  • Great communication skills, both oral and written including report writing.

  • Experience in current disability issues.

  • An ability to work across a diverse community.

  • Sound organisational and computer ability including MS Office.

  • Previous experience in working with disabled people.

  • A social science, social work or education qualification (is desirable).
