Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The 3rd December marks the annual United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The 2019 theme is: ‘Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda.’
While this might feel like a lofty concept, at its heart this theme is about disabled people being leaders. It is also about inclusion and equity. It pledges to leave no one behind, an important aim when we consider the inequitable outcomes disabled people face in relation to their non-disabled peers.
This year many CCS Disability Action's branches have arranged to celebrate inclusion and leadership in various way, follow us on Facebook or check out our events pages, to find out what is happening in a town near you.
