Access Aware wows at the Open Data Event!

CCS Disability Action’s Access Aware Mobility Parking App was a highlight for many at the Stats NZ Open Data event held in Wellington last Friday March 2. David Matthews, Chief Executive, explained to the audience of nearly 300, the origins, functions and vision of this innovative new software.

Developed in partnership with ThunderMaps, Access Aware aims to collect and share data with users and partner councils as well as private businesses in an accessible, reliable format that can become standardised across NZ.

Currently there is no central hub for data of this kind to assist disabled New Zealanders access their communities. Access Aware aims to change that, and support the enforcement of mobility parking abuse along the way. Due to roll out nationally this year, Access Aware has been successfully trialled in both Wellington and Christchurch at the end of last year and is even picking up interest overseas.
