Welcome to the New Plymouth branch
Tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou, tēnā koutou katoa.
If you live in or near New Plymouth, please contact us for support, advice and information relating to disability.
There are a number of ways you can access them. While some of our services may need a referral and not all the services offered by CCS Disability Action are available from our branch, please get in touch with us directly to discuss your needs and what we can offer you.
You could also contact your GP or AccessAbility as they can assess your needs and connect you with support providers.
Our branch is guided by a Local Committee that is made up of members who provide governance, leadership and financial management and oversight at a branch level.
You can contact Local Committee Chair Graham Cochrane on Governance.NorthTaranaki@ccsDisabilityAction.org.nz or phone 06 758 5423.

CCS Disability Action North Taranaki Annual Report 2020 (PDF 1.3 MB)
I joined the then Crippled Children Society in Central Taranaki in 1972 and on my return to New Plymouth in 1978 was co-opted onto the North Taranaki Branch as a committee member.
During the 1980s and 1990s I held a position for nine years as Central Regional Representative on the National Board, since that time I have held a number of positions on our local branch and at present I’m chairperson of our Local Committee. I am also a Life Member both of our North Taranaki branch and the National body.
In my career for 30 years as an auctioneer and Real Estate salesperson, I have been heavily involved in the New Plymouth community. With 17 years as Deputy Controller Civil Defence, 18 years Race Director of our Mountain to Surf Marathon, and over 40 years as a rugby referee (still active each Saturday and mid-week). It was in 2015 that I was awarded a New Zealander of the year award for my service to the folk of New Plymouth city.

I am the newly appointed General Manager for the Central Region from Wellington to Whanganui, Taranaki, Manawatu and Wairarapa.
I have been with CCS Disability Action since 2008, holding senior roles in a number of settings. I have worked in the Health and Disability Sector for 19 Years; my background has been in the area of Business Management and Human Services. What brought me to this organisation was that there was more autonomy to advocate and really make a difference in the lives of others – CCS Disability Action has allowed this to happen.
In my new role, it is the intention that a more strategic view of our service delivery, community development, networks and collaborations will be taken, while ensuring strong leadership at a local level, to provide services in a way that enhances self-direction for disabled people, their families/whanau and our wider communities.
Whanau is important to me: I have three wonderful children, two beautiful mokopuna, and a loving partner who make it possible for me to do the things I do.
