Job specific information

This role offers you an exciting opportunity to become involved in providing leadership to the Family & Youth Team in Christchurch and our West Coast Team. This position involves relationship building, support and administration, along with leading a team of service staff who provide support services, information, and advocacy for both disabled people and their family/whānau. You will be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, compassion, and respect for one another.

About the Role:

  • Provide effective leadership and supervision to staff.

  • Drive quality improvement activities and contributes to regional planning.

  • Contribute to the region’s strategic/business planning, and lead implementation of agreed organisational change.

  • Lead and coordinate high quality services that are creative, flexible, and responsive to the needs of disabled people and their families/whānau; and

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with disability community groups and governance.

About you:

  • You will understand person and family directed planning and community development concepts.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills.

  • You have team leadership experience or can provide relevant examples that highlight these skills.

  • You hold a relevant qualification in Social Services or Human Services or equivalent qualification and/or work experience; and

  • You may have experience working in a social services agency. Working with disabled children/youth/adults, their families/whānau and significant others would be advantageous.
