Library and information services

Do you need information on disability? Then our library can help!
Whether you're a person with a disability or a family member, a carer, a researcher or you work for CCS Disability Action, the Information Service can help meet your information needs.
The library has many books, articles, magazines and DVDs on disability-related topics. Anyone can borrow from the library and loans are free of charge.

Subject areas
Our resources cover issues impacting on the lives of people with disabilities from birth through the ageing process.
Information is available on such topics as:
· Inclusive education
· Universal design, accessible building, and lifetime design
· Issues for parents and families of children and young people with disabilities
· Personal development, including self-esteem, friendship, and sexuality
· Information on specific disabilities and impairments, e.g. autistic spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, and neurological and physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy
· Living in the community
· Being a parent with a disability
The library online
Anyone can search our library catalogue - it's just like using Google.
When you are happy with your search, you can order resources online or you can contact the online librarian.

Services
We can send you a search from one of our databases or access a number of web-based databases. We specialise in searching for disability information on the Web.
Because we work closely with other libraries and information services in the disability and health sectors, both in New Zealand and overseas, we will point you in the right direction if we cannot help you.
