What are early intervention services?
Early Intervention aims to provide the best possible development and support of infants, toddlers and preschoolers with developmental special needs.

How can they help my child or a child in my family?
Some CCS Disability Action branches offer specialist services to support young children with disabilities and their families to have the best possible start in life. Early intervention teachers and other professional staff coordinate services and supports for the children and their families so the children have the best opportunity to develop within the context of their community, including provision of educational support workers (teacher aides).

Families often need extra support during their disabled child’s early years. The service works in partnership with parents, caregivers and whanau to ensure the individual needs of each child and family can be most effectively met.

We continue to support children and their families through our team of community support coordinators as the child progresses through early childhood education and transition to school.
Ongoing support and provision of information assists families to make informed decisions that will develop the potential of the child within family and community relationships.
